Solid fuel appliances
HETAS REGISTERED INSTALLER OF SOLID FUEL APPLIANCES
Engineer's registration No: 14359. Company registration No: 3169
Also forming a significant proportion of my work, I am also an experienced HETAS Solid fuel registered engineer, eligible to carry out work in the following categories:
Installation of dry appliances
Service and maintenance of appliances
Installation of twin walled flexible flue liners
Installation of rigid sectional metal flue liners
Installation of insulated twin wall systems (metal)
HETAS is the official body recognised by government to approve biomass and solid fuel domestic heating appliances, fuels and services including the registration of competent installers and servicing businesses.
"In England and Wales most installations of solid fuel, wood and biomass appliances and systems are subject to the requirements of Building Regulations. These regulations are a must and need to be notified to the relevant Local Authority Building Control department by law. HETAS registered installers can self certificate their work thus avoiding the need for costly and time consuming Building Notice applications to the local Building Control department."

Just a couple of my testimonials - "We have felt lucky to have had Paul carry out several building projects on our house in South Zeal. Paul has always been a pleasure to have around and we have found him hardworking, trustworthy and reasonably priced. When discussing a potential project, Paul has always told us realistically when he would be able to start and also given a realistic estimate of how long it may take and how much it is likely to cost. Paul usually completes one project before starting the next which means that he follows each job through to completion in a reasonable time without time off site on other projects. .... Paul’s work is of a very high standard we have felt that a major strength is his ability to see ways to “build in character” by incorporating interesting features in the build. This has made his work a continuing pleasure to live in and with and would be a big advantage in the updating and renovating of older “period properties” as well as in creating interest in otherwise bland new builds. ... Paul has helped us to create a home that we love and we would not hesitate to ask him to do any future building projects for us."
" It’s not very often that you’re sorry to see the back of your builders, but having lived in the downstairs of our house for six months while Paul completely gutted the upper levels, we actually missed having him around the place so much when he finished that two years later he was back to gut the downstairs! .... Paul totally redesigned the inside of our seventeenth-century cottage with imagination, sensitivity and a real eye for detail. While it is now bigger, brighter and more comfortable inside, it has also had more of its original ‘character’ restored and so many quirky details added that it now really is a one-off home that we’ll never want to leave. We loved the fact that we were involved and consulted at every stage of the building work. Few builders have such innovative ideas that they improve on almost every aspect of the architect’s plans – but that was certainly our experience."
Most of my work is based in the Okehampton area, although on occasion as far as Exeter. I have worked as a builder for over 30 years. Before becoming self employed in the early 1990's, I trained with and worked for my father Peter's successful building business based in Sampford Courtenay. I now combine building work, hard landscaping and the installation of solid fuel appliances.
Depending on the size of the project, I use other local skilled builders as and when required. In addition, I have a broad network of other respected local trades people to call on either for full project fulfilment or just for the odd job requiring additional specialist help.
Well known in my immediate area, I have built a genuine reputation of which I am proud, based upon my father's teaching of quality over speed; work that will last, built to a high specification.
With the exception of emergency work, I work on a first come first served basis and complete each job before moving on to the next. Terms of Business are available upon request, along with further/ full testimonials and contact details of previous customers. Get in touch for a free informal discussion about your project or requirement, however large or small.
Also an avid beekeeper, I live in South Zeal near Okehampton with my wife and daughter where I also grow most of our fruit and vegetables, as well as keeping hens.
